a few hours of your life you will never get back

Reader Kate directed me to the ABC Family site where you can watch several episodes of the SVH tv show for free (click on “Watch” and then scroll down. Seriously, I can barely sit through five minutes of each one. First off, because I can never tell the male characters apart (‘cept for Winston, obvi). And I can’t tell if it is supposed to be a comedy or drama or both. It loses the kitsch of the books and just makes it…kind of sad. Furthermore, I think they try to use storyline from the books but change it a little, so why bother? The one I tried to watch was based on In Love With the Enemy Gang Wars, but with Christian Gorman as a rival basketball player. Or something. Jessica’s horrid bangs were too distracting. To me, the twins look like porn star rejects.

Also, there was a pretty funny Judy Blume reference on the new episode of Reno 911! this week. Fyi.

omg… i’m currently watching “kiss heard round the school”. Just… horrible…awful…painful… The outfits… the one liners… How did this make it past the first season?

Same here, I can’t watch it because I’m outside the US 😦 Apparently you can download them from iTunes but I don’t think I’m willing to pay to watch this stuff again!

I saw a couple, it showed here in NZ at about 5 in the afternoon…then it got demoted to 7.30am LOL. I remember the one where Liz and Jess wanted to be in an ad for makeup, and got rejected or something…and then ended up being in another one, magically enough, that had never been mentioned up until that point. They were pretty disappointing – the Liz never seemed Liz-ish enough, and Bruce reminded me of Trey from SATC, Lila was pretty crappy, and there were no parents! Probably because they couldn’t find a woman who looked as though she had birthed three children but also like she could have been “the twins’ older sister…”

Random – so I was at Barnes & Noble last night and saw BSC books…but they were in comic format?! Weird. Def not as good as the originals…

They only have season four eps up :(. I read rivalry with big mesa and got all excited thinking it was season two. I remember liking season two the best, but probably because I haven’t seen it since I was 12. ^_^

“My friends and I made up a drinking game to it.”

Alicia, if you have a moment, would you mind posting the rules to said drinking game? It sounds like a hoot. TIA! 🙂

I got them to work! Apparently Liz and Jess live alone and have unhindered altercations with pissed BF’s, and Liz isn’t saintly enough. Just doormatty.

Most definitely Amber! Although just so you know, it’s mainly for the first season, and the reason it starts with sips of alcohol is because we didn’t want alcohol poisoning by the 2nd episode. ;]

    1 sip
-Jessica’s sexy music (usually a series of guitar riffs) plays
    -Jessica flashes her devilish smile
-One of Winston’s stupid plans fails
-Jessica makes a sexual innuendo that she has no plans to keep
-Elizabeth wears a scarf in her hair

    2 sips
    – A teacher (a shot if it’s Mr. Collins) invades an SVH student’s personal space
    – Bruce mentions his Porsche
    – Twin identity switch
    – Pop culture references (such as, “Oh I can’t get rid of these Pearl Jam tickets!”)
    – Enid is subtly referred to as ugly
    -Jessica betrays her sister

    1 shot
-Elizabeth wears a scarf in her hair with a vest
-Todd exclaims, “I’m gonna kill that guy!!”
    – Any mention of the Wakefield parents
    – A college boy shows up at a high school event
    – A montage with the specially-made soundtrack plays

    2 shots
-ELIZABETH yells “I’m gonna kill that guy!”

Wow, the jokes are paper thin…did anyone see the film festival one? Siskel and Debert? Wow, really subtle referencing guys *eye roll*. I’ve heard better jokes from Sesame Street!

  10. Amber Tan says:

    Excellent — thanks, Alicia! 🙂

“The reason it starts with sips of alcohol is because we didn’t want alcohol poisoning by the 2nd episode.”

A very wise decision, my friend. 😉

“A montage with the specially-made soundtrack plays”

BWAH! This totally reminds me of the Southpark episode in which Stan is learning to ski and is challenged to a race by some bully. “We need a montage! To show the passage of time!”

ETA: It was Episode #603 (Asspen) http://southpark.comedycentral.com/season.jhtml?season=6
